What we do ?

In order to provide the best educational opportunities possible for children from the Framingham District, the Grants Development Office (GDO) aims to seek as many sources of revenue as possible to supplement funds provided through local appropriation and basic aid offered by the state and federal governments.

The GDO was created and staffed in the 2014-2015 school year with the purpose of supporting students, teachers, schools and departments in the pursuit of external grant funding. To ensure coordination and to avoid duplication in developing grants proposals, the GDO serves as the district's clearinghouse for grant application support and submission. The Department's primary task is to provide programmatic support, monitor budgets, expenditures and required financial reports for grant funds to the district. GDO supports all areas of Pre-K-12 education which includes, but is not limited to, academics, enrichment, intervention, student support services, teacher training, professional development and operational functions.

The GDO works cooperatively with the school based Instructional Leadership Teams, Educational Operational Team and budget staff to ensure that grants are managed properly and are consistently utilized across central office and schools in accordance with applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE), and specific grants terms and conditions.

The GDO is responsible for developing policies, procedures and providing operational support to ensure best practice grant management and compliance.

Technical assistance is provided through the identification of potential resources and the review of proposals. GDO staff is also available to provide guidance. School personnel are expected to complete the Grants Development Form when applying for a grant or partnering with an outside agency to seek funding.

VISION 2020 : EXECELLENCE AND EQUITY
